Hello, I am running SuSe 7.3. This box is going to act as a router for
my cable modem. I have two network cards in it, ETH0 and ETH1. What I
would like to do is connect ETH0 to my cable modem, and have it get is IP
via DHCP from the cable company. For ETH1, I would like to run DHCPD so
that any computer connecting to that card will automatically be provided
it's own IP address. I have yet to start playing around with the router
end, as I can not get the DHCPD part working. I have read the man pages
for both DHCPD and dhcpd.conf, but can not get any computer to connect
. I have set the IP of the DHCPD
server to 192.168.1.1, and the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0. I
configured the dhcpd.conf file with the same subnet mask address and set
the IP address limit to 192.168.1.10 to 192.168.1.250. I have tried
many different things and can still not get the client to obtain an IP. Do
I have to configure DHCPD for an ETH card, or doses it use both installed?
If any one knows where I can find more information on setting up and using
DHCPD, I would appreciate the help.Maybe can someone give the exact
settings with the tool yast2, because I doing something wrong but I don't
know what? ??? ???
Thanks.
Sorry that het in het English is maar zo bereik ik eenieder. Het gaat wel over het geval Telenet , dus dynamische IP-toewijzing.
