IMPORTANT - Windows Common Controls Library
The program requires a recent version of the
Windows Common Controls (also known as the
Windows Custom Controls Library.) This file is
part of Windows. Version 4.72 or later is
required if Concordance is to offer full
functionality. This version is part of
Windows 98 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0.
If you already have either of these, you should
not need to update.
To ensure that your computer has version 4.72
installed, you can run the program 40Comupd.exe
as soon as the installation program is complete.
You will find 40Comupd.exe in the same folder as
you choose for the main program files. That
folder is C:\Program Files\Concordance unless
you choose another folder during the setup program.
The file 40Comupd.exe can be deleted after you
have run it.
40Comupd.exe is Microsoft's official update for
the Windows Common Controls and will safely update
the file comctl32.dll on your system if required,
renaming the old version to comctl32.bak.
If you would prefer to check the version yourself
before running the update program, use Explorer
(or Find on your Start menu) to find the file
comctl32.dll in your Windows system directory.
Right-click the file, choose Properties, then
Version. If the file version is 4.72 or later,
you do not need to upgrade.
You will have the chance to read this README file
again at the end of the installation, and it will
also be installed in the program folder as
README.TXT.
